Our Success Stories

At Wafcol, we're really proud of our food. But don't just take our word for it, take a look at a small selection of testimonials from our customers and see how Wafcol has changed their dogs' lives.

Charlie - Basset Hound

My 12 month old Basset, Charlie, has been having problems with sickness every day and very windy and smelly, however, since changing to Wafcol Salmon and Potato (mixed with a bit of Natures Menu Chicken) he is completely different, no more sickness, and no more smells!

Also his coat is lovely and shiny and he is back to the mischievous puppy he was before. Turns out he is sensitive to wheat and rice.

Sasha and Sophie -
Cavalier King Charles Spaniels

My two Cavalier litter sisters both developed a food intolerance when only a few month old. Although several tests were done, my vet was unable to identify what they were intolerant to. Sophie was not as badly affected as Sasha but still suffered bouts of colitis on a regular basis. However Sasha reacted to just about everything, and by the time they were 10 months old I really thought that I was going to lose her.

Then I read in one of the dog papers, a letter from a lady who had a dog with similar problems. She said Wafcol Salmon and Potato had improved her dog's life considerably, and although I had tried lots of foods that had been recommended to me without any result, I decided to give it a go.

Well that was 10 years ago and they have never looked back. They are approaching their eleventh birthday and are as active as ever with lovely shiny coats and no signs of stiffness after exercise. They are and have been extremely healthy.

Thank you Wafcol from me and the girls.

Sasha - Boxer

Our beautiful Boxer Sasha had suffered with colitis, skin problems and ear problems for some time and despite many visits to the vets and lots of antibiotics, we were at our wits end as nothing was working.

I had heard about Wafcol Salmon & Potato as it has been around for many years and had a excellent reputation, so we thought we'd give it a go - and we've never looked back since. No more red skin, tummy problems or thick ears just a happy, healthy dog.

We have 2 other Boxers (Alfie and Angel) and we wouldn't use any other food. Angel has just had puppies and they were all weaned on Wafcol and are a picture of health.

Izzy - Yorkshire Terrier

Hello my name is Izzy and I am a 3 year old Yorkshire Terrier Dog. I was named after a Leicester City footballer called Muzzey Izzet. Why I was called that I don't know as I can't play football.

About 3 months ago I developed these terrible sores which made me itch terribly and after a good scratch I made them bleed. I was taken to the vets and put on a special shampoo and antibiotics. It seemed to calm them down for a while but they didn't disappear.

The vet was convinced that I had developed an allergy to wheat and suggested I tried this special food made of Salmon and Potato. It took me a while to get use to this new food but now I really enjoy it and guess what my skin is clear, my coat is so much better and I am now a very happy dog.

I now play ball on the beach maybe I will like football one day.

Thank you for making me better Wafcol.

- Kindest regards Izzy

Leo - Springer Spaniel

We adopted a rescue Springer Spaniel called Leo in January 2009 who was only 6 months old. A couple of months after having Leo he started to get a rash on his chest, first the Vet thought it was a bit of mange so was treated accordingly but this did not clear up but got worse. Leo then had some further tests and it was found that he was allergic to various pollens which he was again treated for. He still did not get better and so we were advised to change his food. We took the advise of various pet shops but he then had an upset tummy and there was no change in him until we went to a different pet shop and we were introduced to Wafcol Salmon and Potato, which we tried and the results can be seen for themselves.

The first photo was taken in August 2009 just as Leo started on the Wafcol and the second photo was taken 10 months later although the results of Wafcol were seen afer only a few weeks, we can't believe the difference in Leo and so glad that we found Wafcol.

We would like to thank Wafcol and our pet shop owner for introducing an amazing product.

Rocco - Chocolate Labrador

Rocco came to the Labrador Lifeline Trust when his owners could no longer cope with the vet bills. His face was sore and had become taught and elephantine. He looked miserable and depressed and despite trying a variety of foods, nothing seemed to work. Our vet recommended Wafcol Salmon & Potato and it is making a huge difference to him. The awful itching has now stopped and he is full of energy on his walks and runs.

Sandy - Shetland Sheepdog

Sandy is a Shetland Sheepdog, and has been my best friend since he was seven and a half weeks old. In his first year he had many visits to the vet, and after many tests and trials of different foods, was eventually diagnosed with colitis. Having a diagnosis was good but it still did not help with what kind of food to give him.

A friend suggested Wafcol Salmon and Potato and although I couldn’t quite bring myself to believe that dogs ate and thrived on fish, I fed it to Sandy. I was proved wrong, Sandy is now eight and a half years old and is a fit and healthy dog, who loves to play every day and seems to know when it is Sunday and he has a session of Agility with his frends.

Toby - Dachshund

Toby is a ten year old Dachshund, who has always suffered from Colitis and skin problems, resulting in frequent trips to the vet with injections and courses of steroid tablets. Three years ago the attacks became more frequent and painful and he was put on a permanent low dose programme of steroids. Fortunately six months ago we heard about Wafcol Salmon and Potato; we applied for a sample which you supplied immediately and we started Toby on the food. Previously he has always been reluctant to try any mixers or complete dried foods but he was very enthusiastic about Wafcol from the first day. We are delighted that he is now completely off steroids, his coat has improved and there has been no recurrence of his colitis for over four months.

Toby is now a very happy little dog who enjoys long walks and is slowly but steadily losing the weight the steroids had put on. His companion Jess, rescue a Border Collie and any visiting canine friends are always very happy to be a few pieces of Toby’s kibble as a treat. A very successful and satisfactory result for your product.

Merlin - Border Collie

Merlin is a four year old Border Collie. When he was eighteen months old, he was taken to the vet with a persistent upset tummy and was diagnosed with inflammation of the middle colon. His brother Jazz had been diagnosed with a similar condition and his owner recommended Wafcol Salmon and Potato, as this was already helping Jazz.

Merlin has been fine since being on Wafcol Salmon and Potato and now takes part in competitive obedience under Kennel Club rules and competitive Flyball under the British Flyball Association rules. He really enjoys both, especially the Flyball and is doing very well in both.

Merlin had his annual check up recently, he was found to be in perfect condition and very fit, also his weight had much improved. His vet has also since recommended Wafcol to another dog owner, whose dog has a similar condition.

Toby - Springer Spaniel

I am writing to tell you about my special dog Toby for whom Wafcol really changed his life.

Toby is an 11 year old liver and white Springer Spaniel whom we love dearly. Up until a few years ago poor Toby was having frequent health problems. He suffered bouts of diarrhoea, bloated stomach and terrible wind sometimes being in that much discomfort he would lie in the garden and not come in. After being tested for Addison's disease the vet suggested an allergy test. Turns out Toby is allergic to beef, rice, wheat, pork and potato and therefore we had to eliminate these products from his diet. The vet recommended their own sensitive range but it was extremely expensive so we decided to look around at other dog foods and their ingredients. Which is where we came across the Wafcol range and found two varieties that didn't contain the products Toby is allergic to, that was the Wafcol Chicken and Corn and the Wafcol Ocean Fish and Corn.

Toby has been on this food ever since and we haven't had any more poorly tummy episodes. We buy a 15kg bag every month and our cocker spaniel Honey is also fed on this food. We recently had a new puppy German Shepherd and she is having Wafcol Puppy.

Ziggy - Giant Schnauzer

My dog's name is Ziggy, she will be 8 years old on the 26th December this year. She is a Giant Schnauzer.

When she was just 18 months old she suffered a womb infection after her season and sadly she had to be spayed. As if this was not traumatic enough for me and for her she then had an epileptic fit about 6 months later and since then suffered from colitis. I quickly managed to prevent any further fits with medication but I had her on several different diets though none took away the bouts of colitis. That was until I tried Wafcol Salmon and Potato. I thought just maybe it would help as it didnt contain any corn or maize which could bring on the colitis so after 6 months on the diet she hadn't had a single stomach problem, which was the longest I had ever managed on any other food. Since starting her on this she has had only one instance in over 4 years!!! I am a member of a dog training club and would always recommend to anyone with dogs who have digestive problems to try it and tell them how it worked for Ziggy.

I really do have to thank you for giving my dog her health back, we are both very grateful!!

Polly - West Highland Terrier

Polly is 8 years old and suffered with itchy skin that made her very unhappy. Her groomer suggested Wafcol Salmon and Potato and within weeks her skin had cleared . She also loves the taste and has been eating Wafcol for 3 years. As she has got older she began to gain some extra weight so, after contacting the Wafcol helpline, her diet was changed to Wafcol Light, within months she reached her ideal weight.

Krystal - White German Shepherd

I got my White German Shepherd when she was 6 months old but when we got home with her she had bad diarrhoea. We put it down to a change of food or maybe our water.

Soon we had to go to our vets, she put her on chicken and rice after 2 more months there was no improvement, and by this time she was loosing weight and i was very concerned about her state of health.

My vets told us that the diet was doing no good, so she suggested a blood test, it came back she was allergic to meat and cereal, I'd never heard of a dog allergic to meat.

The vet suggested to try her on Wafcol Salmon and Potato plus one table spoon of Panzym Powder, that did the trick she and is now 12 going on her 13th year and still like a pup.

I have been married for 44 years had German Shepherds' all of my married life but none of them lived as long as her, the love of my life is Krystal this is a photo of her, and may I take this opportunity to thank you for her life.

Teddy - Cavalier King Charles Spaniel

My Ruby Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Teddy, was born in April 2005. By the time he came to live with me in July he had permanently runny eyes and very soon started frantically rubbing his face and crying after meals. The vet wasn't sure what was wrong and I tried Teddy on every brand of food known to me but nothing seemed to help and, even more worryingly, he started to lose interest in eating and became quite thin.

By Christmas the vet decided to keep Teddy in for a few days and do a lot of tests. The end result was that he had nothing more sinister than food allergies, the main one being to poultry, and it was suggested that I feed him only fish and rice for several weeks. Teddy started to improve but was unable to put weight on while eating his fish and rice diet. It was at Crufts 2006 that I was given a sample of Wafcol Salmon and Potato for him to try and Teddy hasn't looked back since. Apart from my joy at not having to cook smelly fish and sticky rice every day, I know I can trust Wafcol to produce a consistent and safe product for Teddy who now eats his dinner with evident enjoyment. He has blossomed into a healthy, happy dog who loves doing fun agility and has also won many prizes at shows, including a Res CC. Best of all, several judges have also made comments on his beautiful condition, including, 'Beautiful condition with well muscled body. In top shape....I considered him for top honours.'

Thank you Wafcol for an excellent product and my happy, healthy dog.

Monty - Border Terrier

When Monty was 4 years old he became very poorly and ended up on an emergency drip. After lots of tests including x rays and ultrasounds the vet decided to do a food tolerance test. This showed that Monty was intolerant to chicken, turkey, beef and milk. The vet then suggested that Monty only eat Wafcol Fish and Corn or Salmon and Potato and he became a different dog! Unfortunately, after a relapse, he was discovered to be intolerant to soya and rice as well so he now only eats Wafcol Salmon and Potato as it contains only good things that he can eat and enjoy.

Leroy - Black Labrador

18 months ago I had to take my black labrador to the vets as I was worried about his general health and condition. He was 9 then and having had him from a pup I was concerned he was lethargic and had lost his glossy coat. To my surprise the vet told me that as had moved on into old age and his food , that he had had since a pup, may need upgrading and Wafcol was suggested by my local pet store. Well.... it may cost a little more, but you certainly get what you pay for! Within one week my "Leroy" was a new boy. His coat was shiny, his nose was wet and his change in food seemed to transform him. Thank you Wafcol! I will stick with you until the end. Leroy is 10 and a half now and acts like a playful pup!

Chloe - German Shepherd

This is Chloe, my German Shepherd who was born on 05-03-2008.

After a lot of upset tummies on all sorts of puppy food we noticed a pattern developing that she was being sick quite regularly, has frequent bouts of diarrheoa and she was itching her face a lot. She was at the vets on numerous occasions and they just kept saying that she needed antibiotics and pre biotic paste. Then whilst on holiday in April of this year, she got a very bad bout of her upset tummy, so I called the vets and explained all the symptoms and they diagnosed COLITIS over the phone. The same continued up until July of this year where she started with her symptoms really bad again. I called the vets and again they gave advice over the phone which I went along with, until I came home one day to find Chloe in such a mess and so poorly, so I immediately took her to the vets who again diagnosed colitis and gave her a steroid injection, which worked for 24 hours but then the problem came back. I have been back weekly with her and taken stool samples in and have always been given the same diagnosis and she has just been given steroids and sulphasalazine tablets, and I have also spent £50 on anti stress devices for her as they said it may be stress related!!!!

As you can imagine both Chloe and me were getting more and more upset by all of this, and one weekend whilst on the tablets she got a very bad upset tummy again, so I starved her and then gave her chicken and rice. After 2 days of the chicken and rice she developed severe diarrhoea again and I noticed that it was full of undigested rice. Instead of calling the vets, who by this time I was rather disheartened with, I called my local Pets at Home and explained it all to them. The gentleman that I was speaking to suggested WAFCOL SALMON & POTATO and said it was good for food allergies and colitis, so I thought that it was worth a try. I bought a bag, stopped all of her existing food and treats and put her on this, and without a word of a lie, she was better instantly, no diarrhoea, not grumble tummy, no wind, just a happy healthy dog!!! Her coat has improved greatly too, she used to have clumps of fur that you could pull out, even this has stopped since she has been eating WAFCOL & she has stopped scratching her face as well!!! She has only been on the food for 1 week which is why I say that the results have been instant.

I just want you to know how fantastic I think your product is, I would recommend it to anyone and Chloe will now be on it for life - so thank you so so much. I hope that this story may help other people that are suffering as Chloe & I have been.

Oscar - Black Labrador

When Oscar was 6 months old he became very ill with prolonged sickness and diarrhoea. Following surgery it was discovered Oscar is allergic to soya, wheat and barley. A long course of steroids was needed and Oscar was put on a diet of Wafcol Salmon and Potato complete food. Oscar has no other food at all and as a result is a very fit dog indeed.

Jed & Nova – German Shepherds

Jed and Nova are 11 years 6 months and 12 years 6 months respectively. They have been fed on Wafcol Salmon and Potato for the past 5 years, before introducing this food Nova had a severe skin condition making all her legs very sore and swollen; gradually over a space of time the skin condition rapidly improved. They are both healthy for their age still enjoying walks in the park each day. This I put down to the excellent ingredients used in Wafcol obviously having good effects. I shall continue to use it and certainly recommend you to my friends and members of the dog club.

Holly - King Charles Spaniel

In late 2007 Holly started scratching herself relentlessly also nibbling her legs and body obviously in much discomfort. My vet recommended a complete change of diet which avoided both meat and wheat and told me to try Wafcol Salmon and Potato dog food. After 4 weeks on Wafcol, which Holly really enjoyed, she had stopped scratching herself and during the following few months regained her ‘joie de vivre’. She has never looked back – she’s 8½ years old, full of life and her coat is silky and shines. Everyone admires her when we are out.

Meg - Collie

Meg is now 10 years old, she was 3 years old when we acquired her. For the first 3 years she lived in a back yard with 5 other dogs, 3 cats and 10 rabbits. She had trouble feeding and for the first fortnight I had to sit on the floor and feed her. She did not know at first what grass was for as we go twice a day onto fields where she has the time of her life. We discovered that she had a skin complaint, so I put her on Wafcol Salmon and Potato which helped a lot. She is a beautiful dog having one blue eye and one brown. We are in our 70’s but having Meg brings out the best in us.

Duke - German Shepherd

Wafcol has certainly changed my dog's life. Duke is a German Shepherd of 10 years old. We have had him for 7 years from an animal rescue centre and as well as being a very handsome dog which you can see from the attached photo, he also has a lovely, friendly nature.

When we first had him he was continually scratching his belly area and making it sore. After being checked for allergies, we discovered he is allergic to red meat which caused a rash and that was why he was scratching. His diet was changed and he eats only Wafcol Fish, Salmon or Chicken as Wafcol food unlike many others does not contain any meat biproducts.

Naturally since the change in his food he is not scratching and is a much happier dog. So thank you very much Wafcol.

Nemo - Terrier

Nemo is a 5 year old ‘forever pup’ that plays the fool and gets himself into plenty of trouble. As a pup tummy trouble was always a bit of an issue, as he grew older things went from bad to worse. At about 2 years old drugs medication was the only way to go and they did make a difference for a time. We then met a vet who wanted to control Nemo’s problems with food. 2 years on he has not been on drugs since, no treats are allowed except his kibble and I even supply the neighbours with small bags of Wafcol Salmon and Potato to give him on his walks and visits. It has made such a difference to his quality of life and allows him to be the ‘forever pup’ we love so much.

Fanny Flump - Shar Pei

This is my dog Fanny Flump, since I've been feeding her on Wafcol, I can't believe the difference it has made to her skin and health.

When I got her she had really bad skin and had been covered in TCP to try to help. I was told it was because she was losing her puppy coat but I knew it wasn't as I had two other Shar Pei's. I took her to the vets and they said she had typically sensitive Shar Pei skin and she was put on lots of steroids and antibiotics.

I tried loads of different food and none seemed to help her. I looked on the website I normally bought their food from and read testimonials from other people about all the food they sold. (It took me hours!) Wafcol had some of the best reviews so I bought a bag and have been feeding it to her ever since. That was five years ago.

As you can see from the photo, her coat is really healthy and she's a happy dog. Despite her looking a bit glum in the picture! I definitely wouldn't feed her on anything else at any price!

Jason - Golden Retreiver

My Golden Retriever 'Jason' is reaching the grand age of 9. In his puppy years and early doggie life we were recommended a another dog food brand. However Jason appeared not to like this and each day refused to munch his lunch and was quite a trying time for us. Being a good parent, I tried everything from gravy, treats etc but none of it was to his liking. When Jason was coming up to 1½ he went on his first holiday to his 'Doggie Sitter' who had fed her puppies on Wafcol and Jason tucked in too ...WELL we have never looked back.

He is a much happier dog, beautiful black nose and shiny coat - he just loves your fish and corn recipe and looks forward to me setting it in front of him. Now in his mature years he still looks and plays like a puppy. All to the thanks of Wafcol.

Jenny Speers

Jason - Golden Retreiver

Freya and Easton - Golden Labradors

We wanted to tell you how much we value Wafcol in our family. Wafcol was recommended to us by our dog trainer when our first dog was just a puppy. She is now five and her health and fitness are remarkable! Everyone comments on how alert and athletic she is (especially given that she is a typical Labrador who loves her food) not to mention the excellent condition of her coat.

When we adopted our second dog from a rescue centre just a couple of months ago we were concerned about many aspects of his health, in particular his coat which was dry, flaky and balding in places and his general lack of energy. Our vet advised to treat him 'from the inside out'. We started to introduce Wafcol within the first few days. The difference has been amazing. His coat is starting to take on a new lease of life and he is now full of vitality! We totally believe in Wafcol. We have seen first hand the difference it has made to our precious boy - it has brought out the dog in him and, while it may be some time before he wins at Crufts, he is certainly a champion in our eyes. So, thank you Wafcol. Our dogs are a testament to your product and living proof that you are what you eat!

Ever thought of bringing out a version suitable for humans?

Gianni Princess Sofia

This is Gianni Princess Sofia. She was small a terrible feeder and slow to grow. We tried all sorts of foods, we were so fed up of hand feeding small pieces to her then she would also bury food in her bedding.

Then we found she liked Wafcol and she never looked back. Her show career took off and she won Best In Show All Breeds at the Suffolk Agr Club show in 1998 among other prizes also gaining her show cert of merit, she has now had a beautiful litter of pups and they are just coming up to show age..

Sparky - Black Labrador

I first heard about Wafcol Salmon and Potato dog food from my local petshop owner when I was at my wits end to find some food for Sparky.

When he was young our vet did a blood test to find out what food Sparky was sensitive to, and when she got the results she said she had never seen such a long list. He was on a hypoallergenic food but the quality changed from batch to batch and I could not rely on it so I tried your food and have been delighted that Sparky has been healthy ever since he has been on it.The quality stays the same and I have no problem changing from one batch to another.

Although Sparky is a large dog I feed him the small bite kibble as this fits in his treat ball and some of his meal allowance is spread out throughout the day as treats. This suits Sparky as Labradors like to eat 24/7!
